Musical Start

Virginia residents, Jeff and Brian Brown-Hill, received their first acoustic guitar and began taking lessons in the summer of 2003.

In the summer of 2005, the fraternal twins, who were 9 years old at the time, began attending open mic night at a local café. In October 2005, they bought used electric guitars and began playing more of their favorite genre, the blues. Having been chided so many times about playing the blues at their age, they came up with a trademark slogan "Never too young to play the blues."

Brian and Jeff were asked to do their first show in November 2005 and the J & B Blues Project was born. They first performed the show in a local café and were invited to be a permanent part of the "Live Music on Saturdays" show at the café until the building was scheduled for demolition in January 2007, to make way for a new shopping complex. The J & B Blues Project then began performing in other venues and have played at Folk and Blues Festivals, coffeehouses and many other venues and festivals. Jeff and Brian play and sing acoustic and electric blues, rock, folk rock and some of their own compositions.

What's special for the J & B Blues Project performing in all the different venues is getting to meet many wonderful musicians and music fans along the way.
