April 2007
We wrote a new blues song that we play on two acoustic guitars. It's called "The Bunny Blues." It is a children's song. However, audiences of all ages seem to like it.
We are excited to have been invited to the Washington Folk Festival which will be held this year from June 2-3. We will be performing on June 2. It should be lots of fun.
It was a pleasure to play at the SAW (Songwriters Association of Washington) Showcase in Bethesda on April 6. As always, the best part about playing in different places is hearing all the other musicians and singer-songwriters. It is so inspiring and we have met so many nice people. This showcase was extra special because our good friends Alexinder Gunn and Alex Culbreth were also featured.
Thanks so much to Joel Pomerantz for working so hard to put the showcase together and for inviting us to be part of it.
We are privileged to be part of a fundraiser, "Singing For a Cause," for the Alternative House, sponsored by the D.C. Acousitc Underground, on May 27 (check calendar for details). Thank you to Michael Yugo for inviting us and for giving us the opportunity to let our music give back in a way that benefits others.
Also, we are playing at the Modern Times Café in D.C. with our friends Alex Culbreth, Adam Dawson, and Alexinder Gunn on April 21.
March 2007
We are pretty excited about some new shows we have coming up in the future. We have our own show at the Griffin Bookshop & Coffeebar in Fredericksburg, Virginia. We've been invited to perform at a "Songwriters Association of Washington" (SAW) showcase in Maryland. We have some other gigs that are in the works for the upcoming months. Check out our calendar for more info.
We are excited to be returning to New York City this June to a private school where we played last summer. We are hoping to play in a few other places up there as well.
There are a few other trips in the works for the summer. It should be fun!
February 2007
This winter, we have been having a lot of fun playing in some new venues. As a result, we have had the pleasure of meeting and hearing some wonderful and inspiring musicians.
Michael Yugo invited us to play at the 219 Restaurant in Alexandria, Virginia. (Michael is a great singer-songwriter and a really good person who is helping other musicians with the DC Acoustic Union that he founded.) Also playing that evening was a wonderful instrumental guitarist, Keith Miller. Michael also performed a few of his own songs. We really enjoy his music.
The "Local CAFÉ BENEFIT CONCERT" was a great success. Over $2000, was raised towards a fund to get a new store. We had a great time seeing old friends and hearing the other musicians at the benefit.
January 20, 2007
We are busy getting started in the new year and practicing for some new venues where we will be playing.
December 2006
We had a great time performing at the Bistro Bethem restaurant in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Thanks to Bob Smith of Apple Music for inviting us to be part of his Blues night and inviting us again to play at the acoustic evening that he hosts. What a joy it is to play with great musicians!
November 2006
Jeff and Brian have each written music and lyrics for two new acoustic songs. They will be performing them at the coffeehouse. They have also added some new “covers” to their repertoire including a hot rendition of Neil Young’s “My My, Hey, Hey.” Jeff is working on “Angel in Manhattan,” an Ellis Paul song that is one of his favorites while Brian is learning some new Stevie Ray Vaughan and “Snow in Austin” by Ellis Paul, which he hopes to play at Christmastime.
Fall 2006
J & B Blues Project had a busy summer. One of the best parts of summer is moving the show at a local Café outside to the patio. In addition to playing almost every weekend at a local Café coffeehouse the J & B Blues Project did some traveling.
Jeff performed at the James River Blues Festival, JRBS Blues Talent Competition, on July 8 in Big Island, Virginia. The competition was for all ages, so Jeff was especially grateful to be selected to compete. Three awesome bands won the competition. Jeff gave a great performance and was thrilled to be the only guitarist in the competition to be invited to play onstage with the Blues Festival headlining band, the world famous "Nighthawks." As you can imagine, it was an unbelievable thrill for Jeff. Check out our photos for pictures of Jeff onstage at the competition and playing with the "Nighthawks."
The J & B Blues Project traveled to New York City with all their gear and performed for a private school in New York City. It was a lot of fun and quite a feat squeezing all the equipment in our tiny car. It was a new experience playing for a younger crowd but Jeff and Brian found out that you are "never too young... to enjoy the blues (rock or folk)!!
Summer 2006
This summer, Jeff sent a demo CD and applied to the James River Blues Society, Blues Talent competition. He was chosen to participate as a contestant in the Blues Talent Competition at BLUES FEST 2006 on July 8 at the Sedalia Center in Big Island, Virginia.
Later in the summer, the J & B Blues Project will be performing in New York City.
